Race 11k for Remembrance Day

“At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them.”

This November, honour the heroic efforts and sacrifices of those who have served to defend our nation by taking part in a challenge which makes a positive difference to disabled veterans today.

A veterans’ charity is asking people to ‘Race for Remembrance’ during November and commemorate our nation’s heroes, from WWI and WWII through to the present day.

‘Race for Remembrance’ is a virtual challenge based on the number 11 to mark Remembrance Day. The event is in aid of Worthing-based charity, Care for Veterans, which provides care and rehabilitation to disabled ex-Service personnel from across the UK.

Take part by running 11km, cycling 11 miles, walking 11,000 steps every day, or set another activity based on the number 11, and complete the challenge during November.

Due to Coronavirus, opportunities to mark Remembrance this year will be limited. However, by taking part in this challenge, you can remember your loved ones and help to ensure that our veterans don’t have to face the toughest battle of their lives alone.” explains Care for Veterans fundraiser, Phoebe Tether.

To sign up, visit the Care for Veterans website and pay the £15 registration fee. Participants will receive a Care for Veterans t-shirt or running vest and a certificate. Anyone who raises over £100 will receive a medal when they finish.

Since 1919, Care for Veterans has provided the highest possible standard of care and rehabilitation to disabled ex-Service personnel and their families. The charity provides services such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language therapy, to help rehabilitate those who live there so that they can live more independent lives.

To sign up, go to www.careforveterans.org.uk/events/race-for-remembrance, call Phoebe on 01903 218444 or email [email protected].
