Worthing Golf Club’s Charity AM-AM Raises £6,200

Worthing Golf Club were pleased to host the Charity AM-AM on Thursday 1^st July 2021, with a full field of 34 teams totalling 136 players, played over 36 holes on both courses, in a socially distanced capacity!

A great day for a great cause, all in aid of Care for Veterans, the Worthing based Charity for ex-servicemen and women from the RAF, Royal Navy and auxiliary services.  The annual event has been running for well over 50 years with a different charity benefitting each year.

The Club is pleased to report they raised £6,200 for the Charity, helped with support from Aidan Smith of Barclays Bank, who pledged £1,000. Christine Gillott & Hilary of Care for Veterans also helped increase the funds by maximizing raffle sales.

Many prizes were on offer, with MHA Carpenter Box ‘A’ victors on the day, consisting of (pictured left to right) Martin Godsmark, Ian Leeves of Mid Sussex GC, Alan Edwards and Roy Thompson.

Worthing Golf Club also pass their thanks onto the local businesses’ who supported the day: South Coast Nursing Homes, 1^st Castle School of Motoring, KTDA Racing, Rassasy Farm Shop & Deli, PEP the Printers, Bacon & Co Estate Agents, Veranda Café Bar, Parsonage Bar & Restaurant, Horizon Windows, 5-Rings Telecoms, Applepips Day Nursery, Nepcote Financial, H.D Tribe Ltd and this year’s winners, MHA Carpenter Box.

Thanks are passed to all competitors for their generosity, however, these events are impossible without the support of the staff and volunteers: the starters, Leon Froude, David Dumigan, John Roberts and Eric Reekie, to Ricky Cannons for arranging the sponsors banners, to the Bar & Catering team for their superb efforts, to George Barr and the Greenkeepers for their usual high standards and finally, to Matt Bolton, Rhonda Stubbing and Steve Reddick from the WGC Office Team for the preparation and organisation.

The Club look forward to hosting the Charity AM-AM for many more years to come.
