Care for Veterans staff were delighted to receive the Charity Award
Founded in 1919, Care for Veterans offers disabled veterans and their families respite, rehabilitative, long-term and award-winning end-of-life care from their facility at Gifford House. Current residents range in age from 21-102 years old, and the majority of those they care for have an Acquired Brain Injury or a degenerative neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s.
With support from in-house services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, psychological counselling, a Wheelchair Clinic and Wellbeing Hub, residents are empowered to live with strength and dignity.
The nomination citation was read by Col Richard Smith OBE, and awards were presented by Mr Andrew Blackman Esq His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex. The charity was informed that whilst there were many nominations this year, they were selected as the winner for 2025.
This award was given to recognise the work of all staff at Care for Veterans, operating within all departments of the home. It acknowledges the dedication of their team as they work hard to give the best possible care and quality of life to disabled veterans and their families.
